A day devoted to unspoilt nature and lush valleys, with a visit to the Gran Paradiso National Park, an area of outstanding beauty that is still home to many unspoilt areas. The landscape soars from the valley floor at 500-800 metres up to the spectacular Gran Paradiso peak at 4,061 metres.
Beautiful trails lead you past numerous lakes, verdant valleys and the attractive park rich in atmosphere, scents, colours and fascinating and sometimes rare wildlife.
If you visit in February, make sure you don’t miss the Ivrea Carnival, a local festival known throughout Europe as the Battle of the Oranges. The carnival lasts for three fun-filled days, the highlight being when more than three thousand orange-throwers square up to one another and throw more than 400,000 kg of oranges!
